I was born in Lanzhou, China, were I lived for five years before my family moved to Marietta, Georgia. After high school, I decided to pursue chemical engineering at Georgia Tech, which was an entire half hour away from where I lived. During my time there, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Metz, France, which was definitely one of my best experiences to date. I spent every weekend that summer traveling around Europe, while trying to learn thermo and transport on weekdays. I also spent three semesters as a co-op at Georgia Pacific and two semesters doing undergraduate research. My research work involved designing and testing a direct biomass-to-electricity fuel cell using polyoxometalates. I graduated in 2014 with a B.S. in chemical and biomolecular engineering.

My experiences in undergrad led to my decision to attend graduate school, and I joined the PhD program in chemical engineering at MIT in 2014. My interest in energy research and growing interest in computational work led me to join the Green group, where I joined the team studying supercritical water desulfurization of crude oil. In my free time, I like to read, watch TV, play games, and do anything food related.
