Shih-Cheng was born and raised in Taiwan. He received his B.S. in chemical engineering at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in 2019. During his bachelor’s degree, he worked with Prof. Yu-Chen Hu to optimize the purification process of Coxsackievirus A16 virus-like particles vaccine.

He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU) under the guidance of Prof. Yi-Pei Li. His main research interests are in kinetics, thermodynamics, theoretical calculations, and machine learning applications in chemical engineering. During his Ph.D., he was a visiting student in the Green Group in 2022, where he worked on the implementation of atom/bond property prediction in Chemprop, investigated the effect of QM descriptors on D-MPNN models, and built a reaction dataset through a high-throughput approach. After his Ph.D., he completed an internship at Insilico Medicine before joining the Green Group as a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT in February 2024. He will be working on various projects, including the implementation of solubility prediction in the ASKCOS software and the development of the Chemprop software. In his spare time, he enjoys going to cafes, working out, and cooking.
