Bonhyeok Koo was born and raised in Ulsan, South Korea. He earned his B.S. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Seoul National University in 2024. As an undergraduate, he worked with Professor Jungwon Park on the experimental investigation of in situ dynamics of silicon anodes in battery systems. He was also an engineer for SNU SOLO, a solar car team, where he helped design and build solar-powered vehicles and competed in an international race held in Australia. In January 2025, Bonhyeok officially joined the Green group at MIT. While his early research experience was primarily experimental, his growing interest in reaction mechanisms and modeling led him to shift toward computational approaches. He is currently working on predicting liquid-phase kinetics using computational methods. Outside of research, he enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, and exploring new places.
