Akshat Zalte was born in Ch. Sambhajinagar (previously Aurangabad), India, and was brought up predominantly in Pune, India. He completed his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Chemical Engineering with Honors from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai, India. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Dr. S. D. Sharma Gold Medal, one of the top honors given by IIT Bombay. As an undergraduate, he worked in various areas, including underwater robotics, proteomics, applied mathematics, and material sciences. During his third-year summer, he spent time at Purdue University working with Prof. Doraiswami (Ramki) Ramkrishna on modeling polymorph selection in crystallization using population balance equations. For his undergraduate thesis, he collaborated with Prof. Guruswamy Kumaraswamy on investigating micro and nanoplastics formation from polyethylene as part of the Sustainable Soft Materials Lab at IIT Bombay. At the Green group, his research revolves around two main themes: Molecular Representation for Machine Learning and Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC)-powered trucks.
