Gabriele Scalia was born and raised in Italy, near Milan, where he graduated in Computer Science and Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2017. His main interests are data management, data quality and integration, machine learning and scientific workflows. During the last year he joined the E2mC European project researching data management and information extraction techniques for social media during emergency events.
After his graduation, he worked as research assistant on related topics and then he joined an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Information Technology and in Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. He is studying how to collect, integrate and manage large amount of chemical kinetics experimental data to improve the development and the validation of models. During his first Ph.D. year he participated to the IdeaLeague “Engineering Complex Systems and IT” doctoral school with sessions in Delft (NL), Aachen (DE), Milan (IT), and Göteborg (SE).
During his second Ph.D. year he was granted the “Roberto Rocca doctoral Fellowship” for a research stay at MIT as visiting Ph.D. student. He joined the Green Group in February 2019 to work in machine learning related projects.
